Be Creative and Have Some Fun!
You’ve booked your Jamaican vacation—now let the fun begin. And what better way to start than at the beach, of course!
The Seven Mile beach, to be exact. Named for the seven-mile stretch of white-gold sands that was formerly a pirate’s gathering spot, Seven Mile Beach is the number one reason sun goddesses and beach bums have been choosing a Negril resort time after time.
It has a little something for everyone—and for those of you who prefer to mix up your adventures by land and sea, both active and relaxing, Seven Mile Beach offers you just the thing you need.
Leave your footprints
At Seven Mile Beach, walking the entire stretch is an activity in itself. If running is what you have in mind, you’ll love how you can go the seven miles without interruption. Why not stop and explore the various resorts and hotels along the strip? You’ll find every type of vacation you want on this beach all day long. You can talk to the locals, stop for a drink at Idle Awhile, or negotiate glass bottom boat trip out to the reef to snorkel.
Get into the local Groove
You don’t have to go anywhere for entertainment on the beach because the locals will come to you. If you’re not interested, a simple “no thank you” will suffice. But you’ll be amazed at all of the wares and local treats that will come your way, and if you’re open to interacting with the local culture, you’re in the right spot.
Catch the Sunrise and Sunset
There aren’t many places where you can go on vacation and catch both a spectacular sunrise and sunset. If you’re an early riser, take an early morning stroll on the beach before anyone else has left their footprints. Surf fishing is always a treat. Or take a ferry from Fort Morgan across Mobile Bay to Fort Gaines.
If pure sands and clear blue sea is what you’re after, Seven Mile Beach is the place to be. Although it’s peacefully quiet, you’ll find restaurants up and down when you want them.
Don’t forget to check out Mr. Juiceman who sells freshly squeezed juices from mango, pineapple, and oranges. The Patty man sells homemade Jamaican patties and curried shrimp from his bike.
Who knows where the day will lead you—and isn’t that the best part of being on vacation?
